If you are planning on staying overnight at PPIR during the event you must register and pay for camping. Staying overnight at PPIR on Friday or Saturday night is not included in your racing registration or car show registration.
There is No Parking on the west-side main parking lot after 11:59pm on Saturday 5/12/18 as there is an SCCA Autocross race event on Sunday in the parking lot. The infield of the raceway will open a few hours after the car show at 8pm-Midnight for people to re-park their vehicles on the infield (move your car from the west lot into the interior of the oval raceway). Any cars left in the parking lot after midnight will be towed.
Drag Strip and Oval Cruising
All drag racers and car show participants are welcome to race or cruise down the drag strip on Friday May 11th and Saturday May 12th. The drag strip will be open for use on Friday from 12pm-7pm and on Saturday from 9am – 6pm. The drag strip is located in pit-lane and is 1/8th of a mile long. After a driver makes a run down the drag strip the driver must safely slow the car down to a speed of 25 mph in order to make their way around the 1-mile oval to return to staging or the paddock. Slowing down must begin immediately after passing the finish line. Breaking the speed limit of 25 mph around the 1-mile oval will not be tolerated and offenders may be removed from the event by PPIR officials.
The drag strip will have multiple staging lanes setup before the burnout box and start line. Drivers will access the staging lanes by driving through the car show area (see map). All drivers will be checked by a PPIR official for the proper wrist band which allows for drag strip driving activity. The use of the drag strip will be first come, first serve. If two drivers wish to race against each other they may line up in one of the staging lanes nose to tail and simply notify one of the PPIR drag strip officials of their plan to go head to head. The PPIR official will make sure to send them to the starting line side by side together for their race when it is their turn to run.
Car show participants are welcome to race down the strip or cruise the 1-mile oval. To take a turn at cruising the drag strip and oval as a car show participant, simply pull into one of the staging lanes for the drag strip and wait for your turn to be brought up to the starting line. Passengers are allowed in vehicles making cruise passes and lower speed drag runs. The allowance of passengers in any vehicle is solely at the discretion of PPIR. When racing or cruising the drag strip and oval all persons in the vehicle must be wearing a seat belt. There is no stopping allowed on the drag strip or the oval. Once you are given the signal to start your turn down the drag strip and cruise the oval you must continue around the entire 1-mile oval to get back to the staging lanes or exit through the gate back into the paddock.
